This weekend we decided to watch the 1980 film classic "Fame". There were a couple of reasons that we decided to watch this great film too. The first and obvious reason is that this movie is a great movie. The second reason is that a remake of the film also called Fame will be released on September 25th, 2009. As a result we thought that we should watch the 1980 movie and review it then do the same thing with the new release in September as well.
The 1980 film "Fame", which is written by Christopher Gore and directed by Alan Parker. The movie also stars Eddie Barth, Irene Cara, Lee Curreri, and Gene Anthony Ray amongst others and showcased their talents. The movie is about the waning days of the New York Highschool for the Performing Arts and its student body and was definitely ahead of its time.
In the 80’s you never heard or saw a movie about the performing arts such as dance, music, and acting. This film gives a poignant insight into what it takes in dedication to make it in an environment like that, which also offers an academic education too. There is a gritty realism regarding the lives of both the students and faculty in this institution of higher education, but is also very entertaining to watch. It will also make an inspiring artist think twice about their personal dedication to the arts before taking the plunge into this type of education.
The new release has stars from many different genres in the performing arts as well. In addition to Kherington from So You Think You Can Dance Season 4, there is also Naturi Naughton, Collins Penne, and Kay Pannabaker just to name a few of the students. Playing the teachers is world renowned choreographer Debbie Allen, Charles Dutton, Kelsey Grammer, Megan Mullaly, and Bebe neuwirth. There is certainly an abundance of talent in this remake of the 1980’s film "Fame" and promises to be a very entertaining and insightful film.
That is all for today on Simple Man Entertainment my friends and I hope you have all enjoyed this post, and I also hope that you all enjoy the video and trailers too. I will be back again very soon so have an awesome day and CIAO4NOW!!!!!

Great review on an excellent movie. You may want to note for parents of younger kids, there are a few parts in the movie that aren't really kid appropriate. I know my family found that out the hard way, and then we had to explain that those "scenes" were not appropriate viewing for them.
However, I have noticed that the new "Fame" movie coming out is rated PG, which means it will be more family friendly, so take the whole family.
