So You Think You Can Dance - Season 6 - Top 14

Thanks for checking in at Simple Man Entertainment. If you watched So You Think You Can Dance last night, you know the show was excellent. Things are definitely shaping up towards the top 10, and I have some pretty good ideas as to who will be there.

One of my favorite couples, Ashleigh and Jakob opened up the show with a Hip Hop routine by Napoleon and Tabitha. They danced to "Watcha Say" by Jason Derulo. It was awesome. Who knew that these two were so good at hip hop? I felt that they really were awesome, the judges loved it, and I agreed with them that Ashleigh is "a star." This couple is definitely steaming into the top 10!

Next up were Karen and Kevin. They had some trouble last week and ended up in the bottom three couples. This week they were dancing a Broadway routine, choreographed by new choreographer, Spencer Liff. They danced to "If My Friends Could See Me Now" from Sweet Charity. The judges said they didn't bring any humor to the routine, and I agreed. This routine was okay, but they were missing the performance that this dance needed. I think they could be in real trouble.

Russell and Noelle were up next with a Foxtrot choreographed by Eddie Simon. This was the second Foxtrot for Russell. They danced to "Baby (You've Got What it Takes)" by Michael Buble. About the second half of the routine, they really started to have fun, and I liked it. The judges commented that it was really good and the routine brought joy, and I thought that summed it up. Their only problem I think is that some of the other couples were so good and voters aren't fans of the Foxtrot. I guess we'll see how big their fan base is this week.

With a Jazz routine by Tyce Diorio, Victor and Channing were up next. They danced to "Blackbird" by Bobby McFerrin. The judges enjoyed it, and so did I. I thought it was cool, they danced it well, but it wasn't that memorable, and I think this couple could be in trouble too.

Kathryn and Legacy took the stage with a Pasa Doble routine, choreographed by Tony Meredith. They danced to "Persuit" by Ka. You all know by now that Legacy is one of my favorite dancers, and I was a bit worried for him. However, he NAILED this routine. The judges commented that this piece has "intensity and passion," Mary screamed, and Adam even thought that Legacy has what it takes to go all the way this season. Now that was the first time anyone has named someone to win, so I took notice. I definitely think Legacy will be in the final four. This guy eats up dance, he dances with heart, and he has no training, yet he has never missed. I can't wait to see what he'll do next.

Up next were Ryan and Ellenore. After a trainwreck last week and a stint in the bottom three couples, they had to pull out the stops this week. They were dancing a Contemporary routine choreographed by Travis Wall, an excellent choreographer who was once a contestant himself. They danced to "Your Ex-Lover's Dead" by Stars. This was incredible. The judges called it memorable, brilliant, and it even got the high praise that it was the "best a ballroom dancer has ever done a contemporary piece." I think they're definitely out of the bottom this week.

Nathan and Mollee had it pretty tough last week. Their routine sucked, yet they still ended up safe, which Nigel really couldn't believe. Nigel was tough on them, but I’m going to call it "tough love" because they deserved it. This week, they had something to prove. They were dancing a Pop Jazz routine by Laurieanne Gibson. They danced to "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga. The judges felt that they dug deeper this week, and they said they were back in the game. I thought that the routine was good, but they still need to step it up a notch.

At the end of the show, the judges predicted that Karen and Kevin were in danger. I think that Victor and Channing are in danger too. As for the third couple, well, that could go about any way. I predict that Kevin and Channing will be the two to get cut, but you never know.

Below are a couple of my favorites from last night. Enjoy, and come back to Simple Man Entertainment to read about the results.
