So You Think You Can Dance Top 14 Results / 11-18-09

Welcome back to Simple Man Entertainment and the “So You Think You Can Dance” Top 14 results show post. This week saw the Top 14 turn into the Top 12, and will put us just one week away from Top 10 and the back stretch of the competition. As usual two dancers got bad news at the end of this show but I have to tell you that I was not surprised by the judge’s decisions, which were unanimous for both dancers.

As usual this week’s results show started off with a group routine featuring all of the dancers. This weeks opening number was choreographed by award winning husband and wife team Wade and Amanda Robson. As usual Wade and Amanda did a stellar job on the choreography and the Top 14 dancers performed the piece with excellence and really gave this weeks show a great start. The dancers performed to Aha by Imogen Heap a very cool tune.

Out of the seven couples the three couples that were placed in the bottom three were Kevin and Karen, Victor and Channing, and Nathan and Mollee. With regards to Karen and Kevin all three judges had said on Tuesday night that they were the couple in danger of being in the bottom as did Joy and I. Nathan and Mollee were a bit of a surprise but I suppose it was karmic justice for skating into safety after a horrible performance the week before.

Once the three bottom couples had been chosen and told to prepare to dance their solo’s we were treated to a Bollywood routine by the NDM Dance Troupe choreographed by another award winning choreographer named Nakul Dev Mahajan who also performed in the piece. Nakul has also choreographed for “So You Think You Can Dance” and his routines featured some of the shows favorite couples and are well remembered.

After a phenomenal performance by NDM it was time for the dancers to perform their solos. This is actually my favorite part of the show because I get to watch the dancers dance for their lives on their own and I was not disappointed last night. It appeared to me that most of the six dancers in the bottom really raised their performances to the next level making the judges job that much harder.

While the judges were sent back stage to confer and make the hard call of who stays and who goes we got another great performance, which actually was a surprise because I thought they were going to go to a commercial break. This performance featured an up and coming guitar virtuoso by the name of Orianthi Panagaris. Talk about an awesome performance I really like this woman.

After the judges came back it was time for their critiques of the solos. Nathan and Mollee both brought their A-games according to the judges sparking Nigel to comment that Mollee showed everyone what dancing for your life is all about. The other four also performed very well and I thought that Channing’s solo was great. However in the end both Kevin and Channing were cut.

That is all for our “So You Think You Can Dance” reviews this week at Simple Man Entertainment.
